Mirth Integrations Engine allows us to rapidly deploy integrations with third-party systems so we can streamline end-user workflow by exchanging discrete data and documents between ReferralMD and systems such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Practice Management Systems, Data Warehouses, etc.
Standard interfaces such as HL7 or FHIR are best suited when ReferralMD or the third-party system should be automatically updated based on certain actions in ReferralMD or in the third-party system such as changes to patient demographics, new orders, referral status updates, new consult reports, etc.
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are best suited when ReferralMD needs to query the third-party system to receive up-to-date information, such as a provider’s appointment availability or to request Continuity of Care Documents (CCD or CCDA) for a patient.
